Missy Gibson and Ed Wells Perform
Classics, Standards From Days Gone By

Missy Gibson is a woman of many musical hats. She is a talented songwriter, a dynamic
rock performer and the sexy front woman for Los Angeles indie bands Breech, Nellie Bly and
Paddy’s Pig. But little did her L.A. fans know she is an occasional sexy torch song singer too.

This musical treat of classic standards had been reserved for her loyal hometown fans of
Detroit Michigan. Thankfully, someone talked her into a one-time L.A. performance known
as "Classics, Standards From Days Gone By."

Accompanied by jazz pianist Ed Wells, Gibson took the stage at the Steve Allen Theater
in Los Feliz bedecked in a beautiful full length evening gown with all the jeweled trimmings –
a very different look from her usual rock n’ roll attire. But this was a very different night.
Looking a little nervous, Gibson took the stage opening the show with Elvis’s “I want, I
need you, I Love you.” This song was preceded by an eclectic mix of 20th century tunes
from artists like Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Patsy Cline, Smoky Robinson, Billie Holiday
and Carole King to name a few.  Her set even included a song written by her father,
Jim Gibson, composed at the ripe old age of eleven entitled “New Brown Boots.”

The show was comprised into two sets, which helped to provide a laid back atmosphere
that was both warm and friendly. Gibson’s performance was peppered with funny stories
and warm childhood memories of friends and family, allowing the audience to revisit their
own memories tied to these classic songs. If anyone doubts the importance of music in a
child’s life, they should speak to Gibson - who demonstrates what a vital role listening to
all types of music played in her life.

Ed Wells played a beautiful piano throughout the evening and fellow musician and friend
Mike Flanagan provided musical support on several songs. The evening culminated when
Gibson’s brother presented her with a bouquet of roses.

This extraordinary performance of standards demonstrates both Gibson’s incredible
talent and range as a performer. Ms. Gibson continues to grow as an artist while
impressing and delighting her L.A. audience even more. Check out Missy and company
