2005 Review: The Indigo Girls Perform at The Vault – Long Beach, CA
Written by: D. E. Keith/ Photos by Sandra T. Molina
The Indigo Girls, two of today's hardest working musicians, having ended their long
relationship with Sony are indie artists in the truest sense . It's only fitting since Amy Ray
and Emily Saliers are the essence of the independent spirit with their constant touring a
trademark of the indie credo. If they’re not in the studio recording, they are endlessly on
the road. This fact delights their devoted fan base. The girls always play to a packed
house when they come to Los Angeles and their one night only show at The Vault was
no exception. If you were unlucky enough not to arrive early, or be able to afford the
exorbitant cover charge for a dinner reservation, like me - you spent the evening
standing. But the girls made it worth your while.
The indie trio Girlyman set the musical tone and atmosphere by warming up the
crowd for a relaxed evening of great music and entertainment. The girls took the
stage and kicked into their acoustic set of classic songs chronicling their vast library
of tunes. The filled-to-capacity crowd enjoyed every minute and participated in
singing along with the girls throughout their performance.
This hard working duo never disappoint their audience in concert and their fans never
tire of their performances. The Indigo Girls will be touring again in 2006 and will return
to the West Coast during the winter months. If you have not experienced one of their
shows, do yourself a favor and check them out. www.indigogirls.com/
